Full Version: Atlanta Show At Chastain

My first post and it's a gripe... (not a gripe against Riders)

Chastain is a great venue for a Riders show. I saw D21C twice there and I saw them at Music Midtown.

That said it is hard to get decent seats at Chastain. Chastain sells a series of shows... and this year the guy at their call center said Ticketmaster is the only way to get tickets to the show. What? I can't see Ticketmaster selling tables (the front seats are 6 seat tables). I'm willing to pay the premium, why can't I get a good ticket? (Outside of scalpers, online or otherwise.)

So either the guy I talked to is clueless, or the only seats left are Orchestra level, which suck.

I know, I know, nobody cares.... thanks for reading my vent.

Chastain is such a lame venue. I saw them there in 2003 and after the show- the one show where they didnt even play Light My Fire- Ray told a group of us fans that they'd never play Atlanta again. Obviously that's not true because Chastain is such a good moneymaker for the guys, but the atmosphere of that venue is awful. Ray, Robby and Ian all know it.

It is an attractive venue with fantastic sound though.

They said they'd never play there again and already have, I'm not sure how well the 2nd show went but seemingly better than the first. Let's hope they rock out Atlanta for this show

I think it is a downer for the band to be rocking out to a bunch of oldies sipping wine sitting at a table... and most aren't even fans since they had to buy a series of 7 concerts to get that table. A lot of companies buy the series tickets to give to their clients.

It's actually fun... but I guess that shows my age (32). I try to get the seats just outside the table area. You can take TV dinner trays and eat & drink before the show. Saves $ on drinks. You put the trays & food away when the band comes out. I would feel awkward sitting at a table while Riders was playing.

I thought the 2nd show was better. I think they played more songs (the entire LA Woman album) and the band seemed more gelled.

No shit AK. I was at that 10/24/03 show and thought I had good seats Row R..........................but with all the wasted space for table seat up I was way the hell back. So I moved up as much as I could. tongue.gif

On the audience recording you can hear wine bottles and glasses and Ian makes a comment about people finally realising that something was going on up on the stage.

No one sits at a ROTS show. I'll stand on their fucking tables and kick their dinners in their faces.

This is the best thing I've ever read.

Rock on Brett!

Looking forward to the show! smile.gif Was lucky and got 8th row the minute tix went on sale. Have been to many concerts at Chastain over the last 17 years. It's one of the best venues in Atlanta, it's small, outdoors, the sound is awesome, and you can carry coolers in. I also think the eating/tables thing is crap, I just ignore that mess. The only thing that still irritates me is the smell of that nasty food! It smells the same everytime I go there. Don't know what it is, but I have to think the people who eat it have to get poisoned from it.

I'm there to enjoy/experience ROTS, do my own thing. Just feel sorry for those who are too busy eating, they are missing out! wink.gif

I was at the 03 show also. Need my fix! I was on my feet for the entire show the minute the band hit the stage.

I do hope Brett reminds the diners why they are there! It's a concert for heavens sake! tongue.gif

so the tables really are that bad? I got box seat but was wondering if I should have gotten a 3rd row table?? I'll be on row 2 of Box 1 so that should be as good as a row 3 table??
wildchild3417
Also does anyone think they will allow people up to the very front the stage?

The tables are the closest to the stage, they sit directly in front of it. Then the box seats are in a U around the tables. You will be in the Box closest to the stage and I think you will be just as close, if not closer than row 3 table. You've got fantastic seats, I think you will be very happy smile.gif

Then behind the Box seats you have the orchestra/terrace seats and they begin with the letter A. It depends on what kind of setup they do, sometimes the first set of orchestra seats beginning with A thru K are a table set up also. But going by my tix that's not the case for this show (I HOPE!). I'm in row H and my tix do not say tables on it. But a lot of people bring TV trays and set them up in front of their seat. It's a nuisance trying to get by some of them sometimes, by the majority of people that do that are considerate enough to leave plenty of space to get by.

I've seen both set ups and I believe the ROTS show will be minimal tables. I'm sure Brett will take care of them since they will be closest to him! biggrin.gif

It will be hard to get up close to the front of the stage because the tables are that close. BUT I have seen it done before. wink.gif

I'm sooooo excited about the show!!!! I was suprised razorgator.com had so many individual table tickets and box seats. They are alot cheaper on that site than I thought they would be too. They had a row 3 table for like 8 dollars more than the box seat i got, but I definitely do not want to be around all the "table people" that are not there for the show. I try to get as close to the stage as possible and I think I did good with row 2 box 1 . they have them now for $51 !!!
wildchild3417
Cmon!!! Whos getting excited about this show?!!!!!!

The show was 6 days ago and I can still hear Soft Parade in my head. tongue.gif
Chris
I had a blast. My brother and I ran right up to the stage. It still seems like a dream that I was that close to the band.

Distractions? Lame people sitting down at the tables. Lot's of empty tables and seats... Chastain could make more $ if they would sell the tickets online and sell them at a reasonable price.

I loved it and will be there next time they pass this way.
