Never mind all the other posts on ther Board saying how the tour's going,and how everyone's enjoying themselves!
Let's give it large for Glasgow,and remind Ray and Robbie of the phenomenal reception that they received way back in Dcemeber.

Well, I'm still in two minds on wether to go or not cos I don't like the venue. However, I am curious to see Brett Scallions with Riders. If I'm going, we could meet up and go to Buffalo Joes after the gig. They literally pour drinks down your throat, lol! Sambucas? Stiffies, Apple Sourz... Aftershocks? Be well warned if you want to drink with me! Lol!

I have to say that if you get to read this before the Carling Academy gig,please do yourself a favour,and get down to the gig.
How can you possibly not want to see what Brett has to offer?
I have my doubts like the next person,but hey,let's give the guy a chance.
Sounds to me,reading the other posts on the Board,like he's doing not too bad at all.
Hope you get to read this post beforehand,and decide to go to the concert.
I'm on a half day from work,so have the chance to meet up beforehand if you'd still like to.
Can't make it after the event,as I'm getting a lift home to Helensburgh.
Send me a personal post if drinks beforehand suits.

You guys will not be disappointed. Brett was fantastic in Chicago and Cleveland.

I was shitfaced at the front of crowd.

I remember Brett saying something about "take the biggest hit of marijuana and acid" and later, Ray dissing George Bush.

I fell flat on my face in the street when I got out the venue...shameful!

Brett did a great job!

Great gig,eh?
I was standing on the middle bit,just below the bar at the back,near to the mixing desks.
Had a great view,and saw that those folk at the front were having a wild time of it,so good on ya!
Thought that the venue had improved since the last time I was there,many years ago.
Seem to remember it was a lot smaller then,and that the exit was to the right hand side of the stage,so I think that perhaps there was a second hall at that time.

Anyway,back to last night . . . . .
Have to say that I thought that Brett was pleasantly surprising,and certainly did better than I probably was expecting.
It's a tough job,trying to take the place of Jim,but both Ian and Brett have just gone out and been themsleves,without trying to impersonate Jim,which is exactly what Ray and Robbie asked them to do.
I'd say it has been really effective!
There's no doubting that Brett has got the enthusiasm for the job,and that that shone through on the night.
He's really giving energy and enthusiasm to the lyrics,and feeling all the motion that would come with singing such powerful music.
A fantastic player to the crowd,as well!
Milking the crowd reaction,and strutting round like cockerel,standing on the platform in front of the crowd at one point.
I thought he was gonna do a "Jim",and surf the crowd!
Rather thought that he overdid the strutting bit,and as result ended up looking like a caricature of Mick Jagger.
However,I'd rather he was himself,and if strutting like that is his thing,then it's fine by me.
That,for me,was just a tiny speck on what was otherwise a briliant night.
All in all,I had a fantastic evening,and eagerly look forward to the possibility of seeing them again.

Just to let you know,I think that the marijuana and acid bit that you refer to,was just before they sang "When The Music's Over",and the Bush rant was just before "Five To One".

Glad you enjoyed the show,and best wishes to my fellow Riders that are going to the upcoming concerts,you are going to have such a great time,and will no doubt agree that Brett has dispelled most fears about whether he could take over from Ian.

What did ya think of Krieger's guitar work?
I think he did a solo bit or was that the intro to Spanish Caravan??
I think Ray started playing with his foot for a bit during Light My Fire.

I wish i had watched it semi-sober at least.

Wasnt at that show, but before he always plays spanish caravan, he has a really long extended intro to spanish, while the rest of the band goes backstage for a little.

I thought Robbie's guitar playing was excellent,yes.
The solo bit was indeed the intro to Spanish Caravan,which is fine,but goes on a bit too long,I think.

What exactly did Ray's brother think that he was doing spending all that time on the stage?
He aint IN the band,that's for sure,but with the amount of time that he spent on the stage,you'd have thought that he was exactly that.
It looked pathetic to me,like a job given to someone who they can't think to give anything else to.
Give him a baseball cap,and a T-shirt with SECURITY written on it,and it'll make him feel important.
Well,it probably did,but he looked bloody ridiculous.
Same thing but more so at the meet and greet,last December.
It looked like someone dressed up,with no idea what to do.

Thankfully the concert was more fulfilling than his quest to feel involved.

I mean no real offence to the guy,but to me it just looked like someone lost at sea.
