Wow, nearly two years between shows and it was totally worth it! Great show, great venue, and a great crowd that was into it the whole time. Nokia Theatre holds 2100 people and I'd be very surprised if the attendance wasn't around the 1900-2000 mark. Brett was a bit under the weather but he still rocked and he really knows how to work a crowd. Let's hope I don't have to wait that long to see them once again. The show was just over two hours of nonstop music, which was perfect.
Setlist:
Love Me Two Times
Break on Through
Peace Frog
Blue Sunday
Strange Days
When The Music's Over
Moonlight Drive
Wild Child
Spanish Caravan
Alabama Song
Back Door Man
5 To 1
Texas Radio and the Big Beat
Touch Me
LA Woman
Encore:
Riders on the Storm
Light My Fire
It looked like they also had People are Strange and Roadhouse Blues planned but they stretched out the solos so much that there wasn't time, which is more than fine for me.
Highlights:
Strange Days: Yeah I've heard recordings, but what a great song to play live. It really gets the crowd going and that new intro is awesome, I love how it swells up to the beginning of the song.
When The Music's Over:Robby really stretched out the solo in this one, best I've ever heard
5 To 1:My favorite Doors song, they had a new intro with Ray and Phil that built to the intro we're already familiar with
LA Woman:Brett held up a fans banner of Jim Morrison right before the Mr.Mojo Risin part, and then he had the whole audience singing it
Robby Krieger:Tightest I've ever heard him play, his solos were killer
Also, I'm glad they're giving Phil some solo time and more time in the spotlight, he's fantastic
you lucky person. Thank you for the review....now about the attendance. A very excited pearl jam fan posted on pearl jam's forum under other music on 5/18 that you could get free tix to the show. I believe one had to pay $5.75 in fees. here is the post (btw, a person replied the next day with a very good review):
"Riders on the Storm Free Tickets!!!! NYC 5/18
At first I thought this was too good to be true myself but I guess tickets have not sold and they are trying to fill the theater. Now my opinion on these guys touring is mixed but at this price I'll certainly go with an open mind. Heres the trick... just go to the link below
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/00...&brand=nokianyin the special offers and promotions section request however many you need and enter the password "riders" The only charge is a 75 cents conveniance charge on each ticket and then a $5 order. it cost me 9.50 for 6 tickets!! I know it sounds too good to be true (only if eddie was singing would it be) but its through ticketmaster.com.
Hope to see some of you there Ill be wearing a Pearl Jam shirt... What a great FREE way to spend a Friday night...Just paying it forward. Cheers!
BTW the show is at the Nokia Theater in Times Square"
