Well, I'm off to my first show since August of 2005 (VH1 Decades Rock Live). I can't wait, especially with how positive all the reviews have been. I'll be back tomorrow with a set list and hopefully some pictures from my camera phone. Anyone who's going I'll be wearing my Strange Days Festival tee-shirt, so don't be shy!

What a fantastic show. Peace Frog, Strange Days, WTMO, Wild Child, Texas Radio, and especially Touch Me were standouts. Robby’s solo in WTMO was, as always, worth the cost of admission on its own.

Scallions was terrific in his role. I very much like the contrast to Jim, as well as to Ian, both in appearance and in tone. He has a commanding stage presence that I think complements Ray’s and Robby’s work very well at this point in time.

Wow, nearly two years between shows and it was totally worth it! Great show, great venue, and a great crowd that was into it the whole time. Nokia Theatre holds 2100 people and I'd be very surprised if the attendance wasn't around the 1900-2000 mark. Brett was a bit under the weather but he still rocked and he really knows how to work a crowd. Let's hope I don't have to wait that long to see them once again. The show was just over two hours of nonstop music, which was perfect.

It looked like they also had People are Strange and Roadhouse Blues planned but they stretched out the solos so much that there wasn't time, which is more than fine for me.
Highlights:
Strange Days: Yeah I've heard recordings, but what a great song to play live. It really gets the crowd going and that new intro is awesome, I love how it swells up to the beginning of the song.
When The Music's Over:Robby really stretched out the solo in this one, best I've ever heard
5 To 1:My favorite Doors song, they had a new intro with Ray and Phil that built to the intro we're already familiar with
LA Woman:Brett held up a fans banner of Jim Morrison right before the Mr.Mojo Risin part, and then he had the whole audience singing it
Robby Krieger:Tightest I've ever heard him play, his solos were killer

Also, I'm glad they're giving Phil some solo time and more time in the spotlight, he's fantastic

I believe one had to pay $5.75 in fees. here is the post (btw, a person replied the next day with a very good review):

I saw the free ticket offer myself. It's not uncommon, at least in the NY/NJ area. They'll usually do it discreetly like this, to avoid pissing off paying customers. The Go-Gos had free tix available last year, and I saw the Outlaws this way about two years back.

I was close to the stage, and the place looked pretty crowded to me. I did see empty rows of seats up in the back, but I don't know if those were reserved or not.

Whether they paid little money for tickets or not, to me the important thing is lots of people got to experience the band and now going foward, it only helps word of mouth.

Im happy you had a good time! and jealous you got Riders on the Storm and Five to One It makes me happy to see some other fans enjoying the concerts they go to! I am still electrified from my concert, and seeing these reviews just make me so happy to see people enjoy the band, and respect the band. Ray and Robby still got it!! And major props to the other members!! Brett really can get the crowd into the songs, At Keswick he was like, " Lets all sing this part for mr. mojo himselF, I want to hear everyone sing it!, alright get ready... " then we all start gonig crazy for 'mr mojo' Thank god RIDERS ON THE STORM TOUR!!

Every show I ever went to was always SOLD OUT...or standing room only.....there were NEVER any Free tickets to be given because there were never any tickets left!
After paying x amount for tickets and then to hear that there were others that were given Free Tickets.....hmmm.

Neither D21C show I went to (Holmdel, Roseland) was sold out.

This is not an uncommon practice. Better to give away a few tix and make a huge markup on booze than to make nothing at all.

Of course, the band is at a name recognition disadvantage without the word "Doors" in their name. Branding is everything.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth and say That I was there and it was my 5th time seeing them (First with Brett). We were front and center,against the rail and it was aboloutly AWSOME!!!!!. I was able to read Bretts setlist from my spot and I belive they did leave off Roadhouse Blues and Crystal Ship. Bret wasn't feeling well, and told us so, but still went out and gave us 100% plus. He was very fan friendly and shook all our hands. Robbies guitar playing was great as usual. Ray was fantastic on the keyboards. Ty was right on with the drums and Phil Chen was featured mor than ever. At the end of the show my son's night was really made when Ty flipped him one of his drumsticks. Wish I had my camera as Bret did not mind at all as people took pictures of him and the band. I hope they come back to NY as soon as possible. Thanks Guys!!!!!

ititI enjoyed the show it was awsome. I am so glad I caught it on time almost missed it. Well I don't care about the shirt. The music rocked. I did like Ian, but, times are changing.
