Saw the show in st louis last night, it was priceless, good energy between all the members, Brett plays with but also honors these guys. Sure, it was a little club, but wow a bout 1000 people got a heck of a show. People around me were literally saying "this is the best concert i've ever seen"

The venue reminded me of what the doors dig, up close, smoky, personal, but still enough to turn a buck .

I did not bring a camera as i thought it was not alllowed, but believe me, it was rockin!
Ray had both hands and a foot on the keyobard. One guy said he's seen them 15 times now ,and that was the best.
audience dug them and they seemed to truly dig the audience. St Louis sure put on a good showing for the guys.

Only thing that bummed me out was robby was signing my ticket and some 70 year old "doors security guy" he had a doors security hat and shirt on) pushed him away and would not let him sign for me, he looked saddened by it, it was funny that their own guy was throwing out the negative energy. i was lucky enough to get a robby krieger pick, and wanted a signature to frame with it, but not to be...

all in all, a night i think i will never forget.

brett fit in, and carried it WELL. the boys, wow, they still got it ! I was amazed, and hence decided i had ot post tihs to let everyone know this is a good gig to check out.

go see these guys, you'll be pleasantly surpised!

I said something similar in that other St. Louis thread. I've seen them over ten times, and this had energy like no other D21C/Riders show. And it was nice meeting you after the show! smile.gif

Sorry to hear you didn't get your ticket signed. The 70 year old " Doors security guy " you talk about is Rick Manzarek, Ray's brother. Not a friendly guy at all, very pushy & what not, a little negative energy going on there. I had a similar experience at the May.4th show. I got meet & greet tickets in Surrey, B.C. ( The first show with Brett ) & it was somewhat of a dissapointing experience , to be honest, mostly because of Ray's brother.

Kind of regret it actually considering i have met them before for nothing. And might of been able to meet them again for free, but I didn't want to take the chance because i thought this might be my last chance to meet them . And i never met Ray & Robby both together before. And wanted to get my Picture taken with them. Literally we were pretty much allowed to drop our albums or posters down to get signed, then it was move on. No chance to really say anything to them at all, no personal interaction which i thought was a little weak considering how much we paid .

Myself & others i saw were actually getting pushed down the line a little pysically by Rick. Move along, you have got your things signed, your time is up.I brought a couple albums already signed by Ray & just needed Robby to sign them which he did. Then i guess because i also had another non-signed American Prayer album I wanted Ray & Robby to sign. I put all 3 albums down at Ray & I guess his brother thought i was getting Ray to sign all three & i had to almost argue just to get that 1 album signed by Ray.

Treated a friend of mine like crap to, who brought nothing to get signed . Didn't really care to get her picture taken with them so much, but paid the money anyways so she could meet them about maybe the possibility of trying to do some buisness with them. But she didn't even get to talk to them for more than 20 seconds because of Ray's brother. I really felt bad for her, she was so bummed out.

I mean i was able to get my things signed & all which made me happy but for $ 200.00 i thought it would have been nice to be able to share at least a minute with Ray & Robby.

But i will say the show was awesome, my 4th in all & probably my 2nd favorite i've seen. Nothing can compare tyo that very 1st time i saw them in Seattle in 2003. But Brett was mind blowing , sounded incerdible. Dare i say it, but actually sounded better singing Doors songs then Ian in my opinipon. Even though i am a bigger Ian fan .

But brett was really grweat & he was super nice at the meet & greet . He took the time out to talk to everybody, pose for photos,etc... He kept on getting up out of his chair to standd & pose with everybody who wanted their picture taken with him. Awesome guy, can't say enough good things about Brett. And hey man, they played Stange days, Blue Sunday ( Killer !!! ) & Love her Madly which all 3 songs i had never heard live before at the other 3 shows i went to.

Other than the meet & greet which i think i would pass on the next time. The show was really awesome & they have never sounded tighter in my opinion. Can't wait for another show or that album finnally getting made. I hope i didn't bore you with my ramblings & complaints.

Peace out,

Jason Matthew Shane Maher

It is said that he is his brother...I guess maybe only mama knows...

But what I consider to be much more remarkable is the writing on his outfit...I thought John Densmore achieved that to be prohibited....

I do, especially around the eyes
universalmind1123
that is rick, and the writing on his shirt has the "o's" w/ vertical stripes, not diagonal, so at one point at least, it was ok
stratgazer
yep..thats the guy at the ST LOUIS show rushing everyone and made the meet and greet a shitty experience.

That is the same guy indeed. That is Rick Manzarek ( From Rick & the Ravens ) . THe same guy that made most of the Surrey, B.C. ( May.4th) meet & greet experience negative, unfriendly & Extremely rushed. Not worth the $ 200.00 i dished out at all !!!

Peace, Jason

THAT's HIM !! what a loser, as i talk to some of my buddies that were there...he rushed everyone through, had some "badass gloves on" heck i coulda took him to his knees in about 3 seconds, and i'm getting old and slow!

but in all seriousness, yes he ruined it for quite a few people. i saw this guy flat out take robbys arm from my ticket, he was the only negative person in the whole place. i came within 2 seconds of getting my hero's autograoph, what a shame. i guess ray's peace to all never got to his bro...cause he was a dickweed.

Rick's actually a great guy in person, but he takes his "security" duty pretty seriously. I didn't hang around for the meet/greet at Pop's, so I didn't see what happened.

I feel bad for the fans who had a bad experience at the meet-and-greets. It's not even the money, in a way ... when you're the kind of huge fan most of the people on these boards are, you probably dream of getting a chance to meet the guys, and as someone here said, just shake their hands and thank them for the music. To finally get that rare chance, and to have it come apart like that ... it's a shame.

Well hopefully Ray will hang around in Chicago. I'm doing the M & G. I just hope for some 'graphs from Ray & Robbiy, a chance to gush a little, be able to relish the moment. Hopefully Rick will be cool.

See ya in Chicago. YEEEAAAAHHHH

Hello all,

Long time no type. Just wanted to say that when I saw the band in London on NYE, Rick was actually very good on security. When women rushed the stage, he let them hang around. When men rushed the stage, he threw them off. Sterling job Rick!!! laugh.gif

Three days later I was watching them in Manchester (UK), and said a quick hello to him before the show started. Introduced him to my mother as a matter of fact. He was nothing other than polite and friendly; he was actually saying hello to plenty of fans. Rick's a bit of Doors history in and of himself; Rick & The Ravens being the pre-Doors Doors so to speak. In a way, Rick is the ultimate founding member of The Doors.

I'm sure from reading this thread that he had a crap night at St. Louis where he behaved like a jackass. But it also sounds like one night in one hundred, which for a security guy is pretty amazing!!! biggrin.gif That's no good for the St. Louis fans, but I just wanted to say that I've seen the other side of the guy and he can be very nice and welcoming.

Maybe he gets to wear a Doors shirt 'cos he was in the band before John?!?! laugh.gif
