When as passinate about a band like The Doors,,,perhaps its best to take day or so to digest "new singer info" before forming a opinion or making any post on the board. This i didnt do and now regret a few things I said. I should know better to judge something before even giving it a chance, I like to think I have a open mind but I obviously turned it off regarding the new singer news. This afternoon I did some research about Brett Scallion.
After listening to some more of his music(fuel, circus diablo, the x's) is that this guy is just as capable as alot of the names that have been thrown around in the last few weeks. Brett is not only a singer but plays and writes, this could add another dynamic to the band. I also read somewhere that he has a great stage presence. This could bring some more enegy to the live shows.
Anyhow folks,,,,I'm doing what i shouldve done and thats truly having a open mind about Brett and giving him the chance he deserves. I know alot of you are as passinate about The Doors as I am and cant help but to be skeptical about Brett but before we judge him...lets wait and see what happens. Brett is different than Jim or Ian but that just may be what we all love about him. So with that i'm officially moving on with Ray/Robbie/Brett. Here's to this summer of Doors music.

One last thing I think everyone would like to see,,,,,after doing my Brett researh I looked up Bretts myspace site and left him a message,,,, and to my surprise he left me a couple messages and gave me permission to share them with everyone on the board.

Body: Hey, bro! Thanks so much for reaching out to me. I'm really excited to get out there soon and sing every word of every song of THE FUCKING DOORS!!! I'm gonna do my best to make you all proud. I know they are extremely tough shoes to fill. Jim Morrison set a mark that can be compared to no one. I would never want anyone to think that I am trying to fill his shoes. I just want to try them on and walk around the living room for a little while. I think that all of us have tried our parents shoes on at one point in our lives. Jim helped father us all through the wonderfully psychadelic world of rock and roll. And then you have Ian Astbury. I've been a fan of The Doors AND The Cult my entire life so I hope you can see how much of a honor it is for me.
What I've done in the past and whether anyone is a fan of it is not a point to even consider. The bottom line is this is the music of The Doors. My job is to go out and help you as fans let go of reality for a little while. I hope I make you proud and gain a few fans in the process. Peace.

p.s. What's your name?

Body: Hey, Cory! Nice to meet you. You are right about the whole "divorce" thing. Music becomes such a personal thing in all of our lives and when major changes happen it stirs up every emotion we could ever possibly feel. Anger, confusion, remorse, and fear attack us all at times. Let's just hope that happiness is the final emotion.
I went over to the ROTS messageboard to see what everyone was saying and all I could do was smile. Why, you ask? Because they showed me that they are the most die hard fans you will ever find. That is a beautiful thing. I feel like those fans will do whatever it takes to make sure that the legacy of The Doors is not tainted. I certainly don't want that to happen either. That's why I will bust my fucking ass to make each and every one of those fans smile. I'll see you in the front row! Peace.

p.s. Feel free to post anything I ever say to you. I'll never hide. Now let's "ride the snake" together!

I thought these messages would give a lil insight to what Brett is about

grasshopper
coool, nice post, thanks for sharing that.
Jimbo
great work, seems like a cool guy through and through
universalmind1123
yeah, i could tell over on the circus diablo boards and from billymo's posts that brett is cool with interacting with fans
-AK
I don't think there's any other way to look at this situation than with optimism.

Ray and Robby know what kind of guy needs to be singing these songs. Also, don't forget that Tom V. was probably involved in helping with the decision. Tom strikes me as being just a big fan who really gets The Doors. Between him Ray and Robby, they're not going to screw things up, especially considering they've done this for a few years now and they know what works.

I questioned if Ian would be any good back in 2002. I'm done with that kind of thinking.
door71
AK is right.

I can't wait to see what happens.

The songs just need to be sung with feeling............that's all that matters. Passionate, uninhibited feeling.

Tour Schedule is as follows.................?

gazza
Thats a great reply from the man himself.
reagan1099
Let the ceremony begin!
billyd
damn! hope i run into some of his girlfriends at a DOORS show ~ holy hot!!! "Double", yeah, DOUBLE D's!! woohoo ~ i think i'm gonna like this guy singing with ray & robby!

tongue.gif wink.gif
billyd
perhaps 'the end' should be thrown into the setlist...? hmmmm......
gazza
Maybe not the end (Thats Jim's man) but i wouldn't mind stuff like the soft parade thrown in to the setlist.

The band do need to mix the setlist up a little more next time there out on the road.

Maybe now we will get are very own R.o.t.S website ?

I have been a huge Fuel fan for many years. I am loving the idea of Brett being the new front guy for ROTS. I know he wont think he is the new Jim. He is not a cocky person. He will take pictures with his fans and treat them like friends. Brett has alot of respect for people and he is a true southern gentleman. He will do ROTD justice!.

Even if you have heard of Fuel and have a cd or 2, to have see them live is a whole new level. They are the best live show I have ever seen, and I have seen quite a few rock shows. He is also a great bass player. I am looking forward to see ROTS live. Brett I salute you, you must be riding high right now. You deserve this.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I have to admit though, I am a bigger Pearl Jam fan though. Pearl Jam is number 1 with me!
Are you kicking me off now? Also, I like to tease people with a straight face.

I've seen Pearl Jam 8 times and I only saw Fuel 3 times. Oh and also I saw the X's (Scallions on bass) in July in VA. I loved them! smile.gif

Thats cool, I have to admit there is not to many people I would have boycotted ROTS for - probably no one but I am getting pretty excited about Brett, shamed to admit I didnot know who he was but recognize some of the songs. Hell I was even in my 20's at that time, just could not get away from the classics I guess.

I thought I read that Circus Diablo will be part of OzFest(sp?). I had a myspace page for a little while and I used to have their video for Ants Invasion on there. I would like to see CD too but it all depends on where and when they play.

What about camp freddy, have you seen them? I just saw Dave N. with the panic channel!!!! That was exciting. I think Brett played with CF before.

I don't want Ed to leave Pearl Jam.

I'm glad he answered you; he never answered me on the x's board last year when I first joined or on myspace. I no longer have a myspace, got rid of it last month. I don't like the way sender can see that the recipient read the message and then did not respond, besides the fact I was hacked and got more spam than ever. I'm not calling Brett a turd smile.gif He was super nice to me and my husband in Virgina last summer. And I hope to see him from the front row one of these days smile.gif

Tom V. manages ROTS, The Cult & Circus Diablo. I'm sure that there is some kind of plan in place to make sure all the dates are fulfilled with all the guys. To my knowledge, Brett is still in CD.

Diablo is now confirmed for OZZFEST's second "rotating" stage. So that could mean select dates on the tour.

lol, I am a prude! A guy at work who sexually harassed me told
me that I am a prude with a capital P.

But seriously, at the Motley Crue concert, the "women" were flashing and Tommy Lee
displayed it on his T___ cam. This is why my prudish self went home. Evidently, I did
not drink enough Jack Daniels before I got to the show (it was an anniversary gift to my husband to
go to the concert and endure MC torture) to prepare me for that!

and I can't stand it when people use the F bomb as an adjective, noun, or adverb. This is
why I say I'm a prude.

p.s. I imagine there'd be lots of (the crowd) flashing at an Ozzfest, this is why I can't imagine going!
kind of like when my husband saw guns n roses with metallica at RFK!!!

it's annoying, at some concerts, the flashers are shown on the enormous screens.
at motley crue, there was a bottom flasher (ahem -- the front) and that's when i got really irritated! we all saw her on the screen b/c it was displayed by tommy lee's cam, which was for boob flashing.

Well.....that's really inapproiate.....alot of youngerters are now taken to rock concerts by their parents to enjoy and appreciate music.....at the last Cult Concert I went to there was a little boy there with his Dad ....and he was 7 years old...as a matter of fact...Ian had thrown a tamborine to me at the concert (we were up in the balcony) and I caught it.....the next time he threw a tamborine out to the crod he aimed it at the little boy down on the floor about 15 feet away from him...well when he threw it it bounced and the little boy got it but some wierd guy wrestled it from the boy.....so after the concert we found the little boy and I gace him my tamborine...but I told him to wait for a minute which he did and I found Ian and Had him autograph it before I gave it back to the little guy.....people are so cruel and inapproiate somtimes....geeze!!! So anyway, why I am telling you this is that there are alot of younger children at the Rock concerts anymore and these women and bands should be sensitive to all this flashing especially the bottoms.....FYI, Riders and The Cult....don't have these screens that project on flasjers...at least they never had them at the concerts I attended....welll they had the screens at places...like at Trup's Taj Mahal but they just projected the band...not flashers. I understand your concern......

Fortunately I've never seen the screens with flashers. Not my cup of tea at all. I was surprised that so many people took their small children to the French Quarter during Mardi Gras for the same reason. There are some places children just should not be taken.
