Whats Shakin Fellow Doors Fans,

Used to do a lot of art as a young lad, I did very well with observational drawings but kind of left that field early in life. I do enjoy singing, but with a deep voice with not a lot of range I pretty much have to stick to singing The Doors or Johnny Cash wink.gif
Not that there's anything wrong with that

Honestly I'm not sure where a lot of my drawings are, I know I have some Titanic pictures lying around at home. I was big into that story between 3rd and 6th grade and drew a lot of pictures of the ship and subsequent sinking. When I'm back from school I'll try to scan some in

I play bass and sing back-up for the Fantastic Circus www.myspace.com/fantasticcircus and sometimes I'll get to sing.. but that's just occassionally.... I'll sing at karaoke all the time... and I played guitar and sang for Glasshouse for a while.. until we split... www.myspace.com/glasshousefamilycircus and I draw and paint like nobody's business... I'm just lazy... .... whenever I sing... I sing more like Roger Daltrey, though... or Robert Plant... ...

Once Upon time...in the 80's I was singing the blues in the Valley of the Sun. My repertoire was comprised of tunes from Big Mamma Thorton, Koko Taylor, Katie Webster, Elmer James, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn, & Willie Dixon, to name a few. I primarily sang traditional, Chicago & delta style, with a little bit of contemporary blues mixed in. Yes!!! I sang "ROAD HOUSE BLUES" back then and people would come up to me and say I never heard "a chick sing that song before!" Believe me, the response was always positive. I also immersed myself in film-stage acting & dance choregraphy,
of which I integrated modern dance/Native American traditional dance. This is my "once upon time, so very long ago..."

Raven,,,,,right on!!! very very very interesting!!! Was wondering if you ever performed in Kansas City? We have a blues/jazz and BBQ history here in good ole Kansas City. You'd feel right at home here.
What inspired you to explore Native American dance? You have any links or such so some of us could here your music?
Thanks for sharing!

Strat-your timing is impeccable!
No, I 've never been to Kansas City, however I use to sing that ole blues standard.
As to the question regarding exploration of Native American dance? It's innate.
I'm affiliated with 3 Native American tribes of the southwest, Hopi-Tewa (father), & Tonto Apache-English
(Suffolk, England) (mother). Even though I was raised in Phoenix I had the advantage of being exposed to ALL cultural, traditional,& spiritual teachings/beliefs of which I passionately embrace and practice.
I was also brought up in a home of music & cinema classics. My father had a beautiful voice and sang like Bing
Crosby, Frank Sinatra, & others. He played the trumpet & harmonica & was in the Navy.
Performing arts & music was/is my first love. As to any links to hearing my music, not as this time. (Live Performer)
For over the past few years I've had to set my 1st-love on the backburner, in order to complete my undergrad degree
& currently pursuing a law degree, specializing in"Native American Law."
Lastly, it's spring break this week which gives me an opportunity to reconnect with the blues community by sitting in
with my fellow musician friends. "Keep your eyes on the road your hands upon the wheel, yeah we're going to the roadhouse gonna have a real good time..." The time has come to confess, "I've been in love with The
Doors since I was 9 years old."

Raven,,,,your a interesting person for sure. Did you get the chance to see Riders live? I saw them 3 times....the 3rd time I traveled to Souix City Iowa. Riders had a opening act by the name of Robert Mirable. Robert is described as a Native American "Renaissance man"—musician, composer, painter, master craftsman, poet, actor, screenwriter, horseman and farmer—Robert has traveled extensively and played his music all over the world. I really didnt know what to expect but I can say his act was Wonderful,,,,music, poetry and dance. Thought you may find him interesting.Check his site out...www.mirable.com.
This concert I was also lucky enough to have stayed at the same hotel as The Doors. I got to spend 30 mins with them in the hotel lobby while they waited for the van that was to pick them up. The guys were great and super friendly. Anyhow Raven thanks for sharing your story...lots of love to you!!!

The first time I saw "The Doors" was in Phoenix standing front center stage when "Jim" got yanked off by the police & 3 x w/Mr. Astbury.
Each & every time was an enchanting, magical evening with them. During the time period I was immersed in acting & singing I worked for a
Native American Record Company called "Canyon Records." Canyon Records recorded, produced, & distributed Native American music from all categories. I vaguely recall Mr. Mirable's name from then. Its obvious today he has gone onto become a notable artisan. Fantastic! Cheers to The Doors!!!

I've been writing songs for several years now and have actually written a few "quasi-Doors" songs. This last recording I did came out pretty well I think. Vocals aren't perfect but I think they're coming along. There's no instrumentation to it yet but feel free to check it out: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=27853747

You're forwarned though: it's a heavy blues song, so if you've got any suicidal ideation or anything like that you're advised to take some prozac and listen to Bobby McFerrin instead.

ManxFish
Wouldn't say I was good enough to class myself as a 'musician', I mean I call Ray & Robbie musicians and I could never, ever be in the same class as these Guys...

However, I play guitar in an experimental psychedelic outfit called Cartesian Jetstream:

and I have just recently written my first song (inspired by the attitude of ROTS and some of the members on this board), Disunion Jack:

What a great topic Cory, My God-Friend and I were looking for someone to put this poem we created to music to thereinafter dedicate the proceeds to the world's lepers...

Contempt Hollowed Round Land Without BOund

This barren crypt
Crag without loose
Dragon-lipped
A blind man's noose

A tear spittled from THE mindful eye
Seven seas skittled to scaffold the sky

Heaven hackled
Temperate and jeaned
Saisons were shackled
Life, lightening meaned

The holly hocks and angels breath
wise ones, and free
to state the epilogue
(in all honesty) as this:

'thou winter solstice shorten our days
light shines in the darkness
bringing love
to life'

And, the sunset rose rude in dawn's burning sight

Okey, so maybe you didn't like the poetry. Not to worry. There's more where that's coming from. Now then, as you may have figured, we're into the charity thing. Spread the love: handicapped, poor, underdeveloped, we love them all...So, here's the next scheme (hoping you find this a little more acceptable)

By way of background I can tell you that the offer was made to only one organization-the United States government, and just prior to the inauguration of George Bush (Jr) in 2000. The Whitehouse ignored my offer and my God-Friend rained on Mr. Bush's parade. Even so, gotta give us credit for thinking original and big, no? So, here's the scheme---

WEATHER TO GO INC.

Planning an extra special occasion? Now you can order your very own personalised weather. Choose from a wide variety of effects some of which are noted below. All proceeds go to assisting the world’s poor, handicapped and other needy persons.

National, state and municipal governments are encouraged to take advantage of this unique service, which is invaluable in ensuring the perfect weather for that special occasion. Imagine having personalized weather for such important events as the inauguration ceremony for the next American President, Remembrance Day Parades and so forth. Requests will be honoured as to the disposal of funds: municipalities, for example, may ask that all proceeds be distributed within a specific geographical location.

Special organisations too may benefit from this literally priceless service. Order your perfect weather for the Orange Bowl Parade, the Indianapolis 500, New Years celebrations in Times Square and so forth..

How is this service made possible? Weather to Go represents an effort undertaken by a select group of ‘handicapped’ persons all dedicated to improving their personal relationship with a higher power while improving the quality of life for downtrodden persons around the globe. Simply put, we’ve got an ‘in’ with the BIG ONE…..

TERMS OF PAYMENT

Upon entering into a contract with Weather to Go Inc., the user shall provide a down payment equivalent to five percent of the total cost of services requested. These monies shall be deposited with a reputable charitable organisation of the user’s choice to be held in trust pending completion of the contractual dealings between Weather to Go Inc. and the user. PLACING ORDERS

Orders may be placed at any time provided that sixty days notice is given. For example, the National Football League should place its order for a Super Bowl game scheduled for January 4, 2001 prior to November 4, 2000.

Special circumstances may exist which entitle one to expedited service though this is generally discouraged as it tends to cause major weather disturbances in different areas of the globe.

THE MEETING

Early morning dawn I travel
to a distant land unknown to me.
Beckoned by the bright ring of a single bell,
I follow to seek the source of the sound,
bright bell ringing intermittently.

Cognizant of my surroundings,
a lotus blossom garden adorned with statues of Buddha,
so vividly.
I embrace the moment, succumb to silent prayers filling me with peace,
pure serenity.
I rise to follow the persistent bell,
still ringing intermittently.

My vision is clear, drawing ever near,
is a white crowned lion.
I stand firm in my faith,
come what may.
Only to find the lion leading a procession of monks to pray.
Audible chanting with the ringing of the bell,
I turn to be greeted by a young monk of eyes of blue...

Hello guys,
As many of you know I have done a lot of comics with The Doors.
I'd like to share a drawing from my sketchbook drawn early this year, inspired by the picture that appears before "love me two times" in the Dance on fire video. Something in Ray's posture inspired me.

Bavala
I made a little tribute to Ray:
a remix of a classical Doors hit,
featuring the voice of Ray himself,
having broken thru once again,
speaking to us from the other side.

A Demure Summer's Calling

Still grey purple clouds in the sky
swaying greenery
The whispers of ancient teachings
falling from the soft breeze.
A young placid mind frozen in time
absorbed into this

Something or someone
is calling me to you.
The surrounding Goddess allows me
to see through your uniquely
beautiful outer exterior.
The rare God revealed

A man of strength and grace
who shines quitely in the
Joys of all the seasons

No need for hyperboles
Pedestals willingly evaded,
Just perfect

The ripest vintage wine in the
Destiny of existence
comes to the surface
I had a vision of your secret garden,
standing naked on the periphery

When I look at you, I am innocent again.
I am neither a lover or an earth mother,
nor a magickal child.
I am one.
Outside of me, outside of my profession.
Orgasm of my witts

We were not meant to be
at least not in this life

Let me look into your eyes
I want to explore the life experience of
You heart and soul

Awareness.
Could I fall into you?
A union like no other,
of seeing things definitive

Let me fall into you
intuition and libido.
Your hips softly moving
on top of mine.
Trembling, tears of pleasure.
The scream of the Earth body
Take me to Zen

(Ode to L.A., while thinking of Brian Jones, decreased)

The time to hesitate is through,
no time to wallow in the mire!
Try now! We can only loose,
and our love’ll become a burning fire!
Come on, Babe Hill, light my fire!
Try to set the night on fire,
don’t shy to set the night on fire!

I see your hare is burning.
Heels are fillet with fire!
If they say, I never loved you,
you know, they are a-liar!
Drive in, down your free ways,
mid knight! L.A. is Rome!
Cops in cars, the topless bars
never saw a Voo-Man so alone,
so alone, so alone!
So alone!

Five to One, Babe Hill: one in five!
No One here! Gets out! Alive!
They got the gones, but we got the numbers!
