I saw the advert for the ROTS gig in glasgow and it made no referance to who was in the band or anything and i was just wondering how many people out there actually know who the ROTS are!? Not everybody visits these forums to find out wot has happened lately , fans who seen the d21c may not have a clue who the ROTS are i was just thinking would it not be possible to put Riders on the Storm formally the D21C or if they are not allowed to do that mention the band line up saying something like featuring doors keyboard / guitarist etc . I just think this could lead to more ticket sales as not everybody knows the score with ROTS.

I hear ya - but not to worry. I'm sure the boys will have no problems selling enough tix for the shows. The legion is strong!

The legion is strong and doing rather well in Manchester. With 6-7 weeks still to go, the Apollo has sold about half it's tickets, so it should be on course for a near or complete sell out.

Having said that, it is still not as popular a show as most Manchester shows are right now. In Manchester, it is very hard to get gig tickets of any description for a decent band. They sell out like - whoosh! gone. Yet with ROTS, no such occurance.

I am genuinely concerned that with all the band-name-change business, the message of 'this is Doors music - come liberate your mind' has gotten lost a little bit along the way.

Some heavy advertising would do the trick. Having said that, I've always thought it is better to have a venue 90% full of genuine fans instead of 100% full with 10% of that crowd not giving a shit, talking through songs and telling me to 'put out that cigarette, cough cough, fake cough.' Whenever I encounter these people, their eyes have a habit of hallucinating into ashtrays for me, and it gets me into trouble.

So fuck 'em. 90% full of chain-smoking, drinking, drugged up motherfuckers like me is a hell of a lot better than 90% and 10% 'those tossers.' You know who I mean. Every community, every pub, social club, gig, concert, event, festival - you name it. There's always one of them there....trust me!

I drift off topic - too much spicy cheese in my evening meal I think... blink.gif

I felt advertising was a problem last tour for Chicago show at the Congress. The only way I heard about it was on this board or old D21C site. I did here one announcement on my 3 hour trip to Chicago on Sirius satellite radio about the show for that evening. Turn out was not very good but the music was great. My friend and I got there early and was surprised to find out it was general seating and I was lucky enough to be within 6' of Ray and it was awesome. My friend not being a big Doors fan was sceptical before the show, but after he said it was one of the best concerts he had ever been seen and loved it. You can even here my friend screaming on the audio were Ian is mentioning something about getting online and letting people know what you just seen.etc. Maybe they need more attention on VH 1 classics because it seems like everyone else is mentioned there except for Doors stuff and definately ROTS news.

yeah, that show was not advertised NEARLY enough. i heard one commercial on the loop, but really, with the loop and the drive, there should be buzz building in and around chicago for the next one well in advance (as much as any short notice would allow). i know i'll be bombarding stations once the date's announced. there are plenty of doors fans here in chi-town who would fill up more than HALF of congress. hell, they shouldnt be playing congress (not that i dont like it, but come on...) in the first place, and no matter where they do, people dont know about the shows.

to be fair there was a lot of confusion during that Chicago show. I remember AK telling me that he found tickets from that show printed in three different ways, "The Doors of the 21st Century", "D21C", and "Riders on the Storm." Here's hoping the European promotion picks up as it nears closer

This is something Tom Vitorino needs to be picking up on maybe? The only advert I've seen for Riders On The Storm, outside of the websites where tickets are sold, is when I drive past Manchester Apollo. They have a electronic bulletin board that gives info re gig tickets on sale. Nowhere else in Manchester, in a city that is choked full of adverts for music gigs, is there ANYTHING, any hint, that the band are coming to town. Daft as it sounds, I seriously think that I am the biggest source of publicity for this show in the city! laugh.gif

Seriously, I would recommend that someone contacts XFM Manchester, the local indie/rock radio station. The boss can be e-mailed at : E-mail The Boss of XFM - Click Me! - just scroll down the options for people to send to - the last one is 'I want to e-mail the boss' and trust me - all you need is a few shoutout mentions of this gig from DJ Clint Boon, who is a Ray Manzarek fan and the keyboard player from The Inspiral Carpets and the band will shift a few hundred more tickets. Just remember to include the words 'former Doors members' as other former Doors members quite rightly do(!), and shifting gig tickets will pose no problem.

I'd say do the exact same thing for XFM London, but I'll let someone else do the legwork on that!!!

Please ROTS Management, we do want sold out gigs, we want the best atmosphere possible, and we want this band remembered as one who rocked the UK every time they came to this island... cool.gif
