Does anyone know if Ray's boyhood home in Chicago is still standing? Being from the midwest, I've wondered this but have never checked it out.

Yes, it is standing (and it's currently for sale!). I am hoping to do a feature on this and other "Ray's Chicago" sites in the near future. I already have photos of many of the sites, but if any of you in the Chicago area have photos of any of the sites, either contact me privately or post them here.

Do you have any idea what part of Chicago the house is in ? I grew up on the south side, but spent time all over the city. Anyhow, just wondering....

I've been talking to Ray and others about putting togethers "Ray's Chicago" feature on RayManzarek.com featuring photos or all his hangouts. I will be putting it together over the next month or so. It should be VERY cool.

Dave,
Is it still for sale? If so, does the broker have a website showing possibly the front of the house & $$ or anything?

The "For Sale" sign is one you would buy at a local hardware store and stick on your car. I'm pretty sure it's a "For Sale By Owner".

I seriously doubt they know, or probably even care. I wouldn't mind taking a walk through that house just to say I did it.

funny coincedence: the "for sale" sign out front has the name of the agent in charge of the whole thing. take a wild guess as to what that name is..."RAY"

if the buyer knew anything at all about good music, his/her response would probably be something like: "buh??!!? i'll take it!"

i just assumed it was the agent's name, since the sign doesnt say so, but either way, its a funny coincedence.

It's actually a newer sign that the photo I had. Looks like they actually are selling it through a local rel estate company. Seeing "Call RAY" on the sign is too funny. As I said, we are doing the feature on Ray's Chicago. I'll be sure to feature one of those sign shots. Too ironic not to.

Your grief is nothing compared to the sadness I felt when I found out that I couldn't convert the Morrison Hotel into Doors World

EDIT: Just noticed I had a delayed reaction as well. Oh well, I only noticed the topic because of billyd's post.
