That was Spring 2003, and Kilborn made a mistake, the album was planned for winter 2003 or early 2004 at the earliest. Its probably too early for 07 dates. The band wont go on with Ian. The website, well who knows why that has gone zero for two so far. Robby mentioned the album in Guitar Legends Magazine in October and in another interview in late December said there was sessions around September. They are still playing new songs, Eagle regurally, and then debuting another one April 9th. There is reason for hope. There is reason for optimism. The band is in the best hands possible (Tom).

Hey Jimbo.....don't get me wrong...I really, really, want to see Riders come out with the CD and I really, really, really, want to see them tour and bring to us the great concerts that we have come to expierence with them......then I would be an extremely happy camper
BUT....sorry, about my quote about Kilborn...so even if he made a mistake.....and the CD/album was planned for Winter of 2003 or early 2004....it's almost June 2006. Still no CD...you also said that a major label was suppose to pick them up prior to this.....well, knowing how major labels work you need to get your Album/CD out and it needs to be out quick and by a deadline......now if Riders is putting it out on an independent label or their own.....that's much more difficult and much harder for release unless you use something like CDBaby and there really is no profit to it....anyways.....this is depressing that the CD/album isn't out yet and the longer it takes to imerge....the less of a chance I see it actually coming into being......Just a professionl look at what USUALLY happens.....not wishful thinkin....because I would be the first to run out and buy the Riders CD/album. The band will probably go on without Ian......that's just the way things go in this realistic commerical world (the band won't go on for ME without Ian.......because Ian does bring "the magic" that is The Doors and Jim through to the Doors music......Ian is THE MAN...we got a second coming when Ian took over the voice of "The Doors/Riders") money, money money.....that's the game....don't let people fool you....look at the lawsuits...it's all about money.
Riders is playing the new songs (songs from 2003, isn't really new) and why not play them...musical artists once they reherse are usually anxious to get the new material out into the public to witness the reactions...as far as this being a sign that the CD is definitely going to be recorded......well, I really don't think it is....I hope it is but I don't think it is...the interview I am reffering to is an even much later interview with Robby...it took place this year in March in "The Ireland Times" I will post a link in another post here is the quote :
"In a year in which the Eagles, the Who and the Rolling Stones are set to play Ireland, perhaps it is only fitting that the current incarnation of the Doors are planning to use an Irish date to test their first material for more than three decades. The last time the band recorded new material was in 1972, a year after Jim Morrison, the band’s iconic frontman, was found dead, at the age of 27, in a bathtub in Paris. Now, 34 years on, Robby Krieger, the guitarist, has revealed he has recorded five new songs with fellow original member Ray Manzarek, the organist. Providing the vocals in place of Morrison is Ian Astbury, former lead singer with British band the Cult.
Krieger says he will try out the new material when he performs at the RDS in Dublin next month, along with classic hits such as Light My Fire."
This gave me hope and I was estatic.....I was actually there in Dublin at the RDS to witness this great moment on April 11th, I attended the concert and everyone was absoutely right on and brilliant and the "new music" was wonderful!!! BUT....now there is not any more news.....
NONE and everything seems as if it is at a stand still except....."THE DOORs" stuff.....Riders seems to have taken a back seat.
And YES...Tom..is One of the BEST managers Ever.....and Riders is in good hands with Tom...but Tom is their manager, they employ Tom, therefore his hands are tied as to what he can do....I had the great pleasure of getting to know Tom and he is a wonderful man and manager.....but that doesn't guarantee that the CD with the new songs will come out or anything else for that matter.....that's just the nature of the business.....period.....honestly, fellow fans....I hope all of my logical deductions are wrong...but I am not feeling very good about these situations.
Your sister,
M-B
