So many question marks
Jimbo
that would be good timing

Ray was mentioning it as little as two weeks ago at a concert soo it seems the plans are still there
universalmind1123
who knows, at this point. it would be pretty limited, i would assume. maybe they should even be considering an online only kind of a thing?
Jimbo
Now originally it was a "major record label" with a full blown promotional tour. Now with the name change who knows what that did with the record deal. I hope they release something, of course I would like to see a real album on CD in stores

Sure does, Dave's told us on more than one occasion he gets emails asking what Doors song that is. Thats a pretty good sign right there
Chilean Lagarto
I would like to hear that one..... smile.gif Does it sound similar to any other doors tune?

hmm the intro is kind of like the changeling...after that it sounds very "Doorsy" but nothing I can really compare it to.

In Paris (April 2006) Ray said this song will sound good "on the album" so take that as you will

I posted Eagle in the Whirlpool on another forum. So far, its gotten a positive response... here is one:

I liked it. I was a little surprised I did. As a youth, I was a big Doors fan. Figured this'd sound out of step with the times. I was afraid it would sound recycled. It actually sounded fresh especially as it got closer to finish. I always liked the Doors sparse instrumentation . Kreiger's solo was tasty. He was always good for that. It was good to hear. Thanks.

BTW - is that also Manzarek on keys? Sure sounded like him!

most reactions have been very positive for me as well, same with Forever

smile.gif The "new" songs are brilliant............will we hear them on a CD??? Well, we were promised we would.........so if "The truth" be told...it is just a matter of time.........so my deduction is: Time will tell and then the truth will be told.
Unfortunately.....I as a fan feel we have waited so long for the "New Songs" to come out.....for "Riders On The Storm's Website to go up (which we have been promised so many times)...we have been promised and promised and promised.....I myself is frustrated......I am also frustrated that there appears to not be anymore 2006 Riders dates...except that Dave and I quote said "If they are going to play it would be for NYE"
This is a great band...Riders...and to not have them continue playing for the rest of the year is gutting.
sad.gif ........I'm not a happy camper!
mad.gif ....actually I am mad at the fact that I won;t be able to see my favorite band for the rest of this year!
unsure.gif "The future is uncertain and the end is always near.
ohmy.gif Sorry...but that's how I feel.

I feel your pain.

I may never recover from the gut-wrench felt when "we" (a label I'll have to no longer mention as I divorced from them) discarded the opportunity to release ROTS Live '05 at the Filmore. Sad Sad Sad.

That said, this I know isn't what you guys are talking about. A new studio album would take some kind of miracle at this point if you ask me. But, we can dream hope and pray! sad.gif

I think between THE DOORS reuniting in the 21st century and then being lucky enough to have Ian Astbury to sing for them, miracles or something close to them are somehow pretty do-able when it comes to these guys.

Of course, some wont let a tv show that is a tribue to THE DOORS air on tv and then there's the ridiculous fact that Ray and Robby are restricted from using a word that we could all include in our own band's names.

Seems like it might be a 50/50 shot of us getting an album. I think if Ray really wants to do it- it will get done. Hope so
Jimbo
Well there are signs pointing in a positive direction. Why play new songs last month if theres no plans for an album? Why mentioned the album still if there are no plans?

blink.gif Why mention a website that may NEVER happen?
Why mention a CD release on the Craig Kilbone show and a target date of Spring 2001 to release the CD and then NO release or an explaination of why?
Why mention a recording secession for the CD for this year in a review given by Robby to potientially happen in London and never hear any plans or references to it there after?
Why no 2007 US tour dates or offical statements as to why or why not?
Well I could go on....
I would LOVE for the CD to come out and to resume seeing Riders in concert....and me being the optimistic
gal that I am would love to be optimistic......and hope that the CD and Riders concerts will resume with Ian fronting the band.......without Ian I believe Riders will lose it's magic...it will for me anyway.
I am concerned.......this IS my FAVORITE band.....I love them and want to see them go on and on forever.
Peace,

That was Spring 2003, and Kilborn made a mistake, the album was planned for winter 2003 or early 2004 at the earliest. Its probably too early for 07 dates. The band wont go on with Ian. The website, well who knows why that has gone zero for two so far. Robby mentioned the album in Guitar Legends Magazine in October and in another interview in late December said there was sessions around September. They are still playing new songs, Eagle regurally, and then debuting another one April 9th. There is reason for hope. There is reason for optimism. The band is in the best hands possible (Tom).
Hyacinth man
I am still hoping that they are waiting for 2007....and all the "40th" anniversary hype. This could be their last hurrah....I just hope they do it right. We are still waiting for Ray to re-learn the 'Soft Parade' for the next tour.....I'm not going to miss that. You can only watch or listen to the PBS performance so much....hearing it LIVE in all its glory would be something to behold.

huh.gif Hey Jimbo.....don't get me wrong...I really, really, want to see Riders come out with the CD and I really, really, really, want to see them tour and bring to us the great concerts that we have come to expierence with them......then I would be an extremely happy camper biggrin.gif
BUT....sorry, about my quote about Kilborn...so even if he made a mistake.....and the CD/album was planned for Winter of 2003 or early 2004....it's almost June 2006. Still no CD...you also said that a major label was suppose to pick them up prior to this.....well, knowing how major labels work you need to get your Album/CD out and it needs to be out quick and by a deadline......now if Riders is putting it out on an independent label or their own.....that's much more difficult and much harder for release unless you use something like CDBaby and there really is no profit to it....anyways.....this is depressing that the CD/album isn't out yet and the longer it takes to imerge....the less of a chance I see it actually coming into being......Just a professionl look at what USUALLY happens.....not wishful thinkin....because I would be the first to run out and buy the Riders CD/album. The band will probably go on without Ian......that's just the way things go in this realistic commerical world (the band won't go on for ME without Ian.......because Ian does bring "the magic" that is The Doors and Jim through to the Doors music......Ian is THE MAN...we got a second coming when Ian took over the voice of "The Doors/Riders") money, money money.....that's the game....don't let people fool you....look at the lawsuits...it's all about money.
Riders is playing the new songs (songs from 2003, isn't really new) and why not play them...musical artists once they reherse are usually anxious to get the new material out into the public to witness the reactions...as far as this being a sign that the CD is definitely going to be recorded......well, I really don't think it is....I hope it is but I don't think it is...the interview I am reffering to is an even much later interview with Robby...it took place this year in March in "The Ireland Times" I will post a link in another post here is the quote :
"In a year in which the Eagles, the Who and the Rolling Stones are set to play Ireland, perhaps it is only fitting that the current incarnation of the Doors are planning to use an Irish date to test their first material for more than three decades. The last time the band recorded new material was in 1972, a year after Jim Morrison, the band’s iconic frontman, was found dead, at the age of 27, in a bathtub in Paris. Now, 34 years on, Robby Krieger, the guitarist, has revealed he has recorded five new songs with fellow original member Ray Manzarek, the organist. Providing the vocals in place of Morrison is Ian Astbury, former lead singer with British band the Cult.
Krieger says he will try out the new material when he performs at the RDS in Dublin next month, along with classic hits such as Light My Fire."
This gave me hope and I was estatic.....I was actually there in Dublin at the RDS to witness this great moment on April 11th, I attended the concert and everyone was absoutely right on and brilliant and the "new music" was wonderful!!! BUT....now there is not any more news.....NONE and everything seems as if it is at a stand still except....."THE DOORs" stuff.....Riders seems to have taken a back seat.
And YES...Tom..is One of the BEST managers Ever.....and Riders is in good hands with Tom...but Tom is their manager, they employ Tom, therefore his hands are tied as to what he can do....I had the great pleasure of getting to know Tom and he is a wonderful man and manager.....but that doesn't guarantee that the CD with the new songs will come out or anything else for that matter.....that's just the nature of the business.....period.....honestly, fellow fans....I hope all of my logical deductions are wrong...but I am not feeling very good about these situations.
Your sister,
M-B

Well they did play Eagle in Dublin. Eagle just debuted in July 05 so it hasn't been around that long

Jimbo....in reguards to Eagle......I just found out from Kerry (owner of The Doors Collectors Magazine) that Eagle was primiered much much earlier...as a matter of fact I have the bootleg here and have to find out the exact date and concert and I will post it.....the infomation escapes me right now....and I am in the middle of an important project that I cannot drop.....to find this infomation...but I promise that I will and post it.
New material will/was played and that doesn't mean anything...unfortunately....Ray could go on in the future and play it with a band he just gets together...after all it's Ray and Robby and John...that's what's left of the Doors. Ian is just a hired hand in their eyes as is Phil and Ty in Riders......and let's be fair here.....just as John Tempesta, Chris Wyse, and Dimchick is in the Cult.......see what I am getting at??? So for 2007...I myself see "The Doors" coming into the forfront for the 40th and Riders sinking in the storm.............Please God...let me be wrong!!!
Looking for the truth....that's all!

I'm interested to hear when Eagle actually debuted. I swear on all I know it was during July 05, although Ray may have played it on one of his solo stops in 2004.
Lets just be optimistic ok? The thing that bothers me most when D21C takes a long break is people start to get negative. In 2004 there were rumours Ian quit the band in pure fustration. Its like everytime theres a break bad "news" comes about. Hopefully Dave can give us something solid information wise soon enough

I would love to hear some positive solid information.......creditable, informative, etc. I welcome it with open arms and it would make my day....hell it would make the rest of the year~!! I can handle a long break with truthful information that is offically released to update the fans and allow the creative juices of the band flow......I woould love nothing better to see an offical press release that would read something like this......
Riders On The Storm are to fly off to London in the early part of September to meet up with Ian Asbury "The Voice of The Cult" and also The Voice of Rots. Astbury is launching a European tour begining in London and will take the first part of September to work in a studio in London to lay down the tracks to ROTS long awaited CD which is targeted to be released in December of 2006.
Yes that would make my day! As to when Eagle was first debuted...I was shocked when I heard it.....but like I said I myself am up to my neck here and have a deadline to meet...I promise first chance I get I will post the date and concert.
Peace,
M-B

I'm sure robby and ray just want to have a good time and fuck the critic crap of releasing a new album.
I, as you know, would love a new album as i am living proof that they still haven't lost there appeal to people. I know a good five doors fanatics in my school, 17 year olds like me (I introduced the doors to two of them).

So I think it is just a matter of getting through the red tape of releasing another album and personally i think robby and ray only want to play some rock and roll.

PK The First
Best Case Scenario: ROTS release album in 2007 alongside other official Doors planned projects.

Worst Case Scenario: ROTS sued for everything they've got and banned from picking up instruments or playing music ever again.

Probable Scenario: ROTS on hiatus until the end of Doors 40th Anniversary Celebrations.

Also, if Ray, Robby and John are getting back together next year, who will be on vocals? Would it be Ian, with a Doors name?!?! Highly unlikely, unless John changes his mind in respect of Ian. Or will it be Ray - far more likely in my opinion, as Ray was the lead singer of The Doors for 3 years after all (1971-1974). I for one would love to see Ray return to this role - just listen to Ships w/ Sails for proof of his INCREDIBLE abilities as a singer.

Who knows what's happening man? I don't think The Doors know quite yet. These things just aren't planned in advance with The Doors - that's the thrill of the ride and that tradition has carried on quite nicely with ROTS/D21C.

Oh well, let's keep on guessing in the meanwhile - it's fun! laugh.gif

I like Rays singing, I really do, but no without Ian they shoudn't be a band anymore
