Tonight the band is playing in Paris!!
You guys think they have gone to Pere Lachaise this afternoon???
During the Amsterdam gig Ray talked something about "going to the graveyard in Paris"....as it was a kind of small poem....I'm wandering if they went!!! Pretty cool if you're a fan, visiting Pere Lachaise, and those guys show up!
Maybe one of the administrators know?
jarno
Cool question, hope somebody know this...

Say, did nobody meet and see (and photograph) Ray and Robby on the Pere Lachaise?
If they were there, it would be a very touching part to add to the Doors' history.

I'm still waiting to hear from anyone who went to the Paris show. I haven't heard anything!

it is said that the hall was half empty sad.gif

Sounds like they may have done the two new songs there. To me that means Eagle and Forever. Wonder if they did them in Madrid as well?

apparantly the show was very expensive. Fans on robby's old forum expressed concern over the hall prices

Eagle for sure, the 2nd would either I'm sure be Cops Talk or Forever. My bet is also on the latter
Webmaster
I harvested the Setlist from the Ship of Fools forum and it's now up on Rays site. Thanks to Louis B for posting it. That's too bad it was so expensive. Other than what I read on Alex's board, it sounds like the crowds have been great throughout the tour. I have a feeling the shows in Spain will end up being the best on the tour.

Paris had a rockin' setlist. If a Denmark recording doesnt appear hopefully a Paris one will so we can hear forever. One show left for the immediate future, kind of sad when you see how the tour created an influx of registered members, posting, mp3s, videos, renewed interest in The Doors, thats what D21C is all about. I really hope they'll play again this year after the Cult wrap things up around October (thats the date I've heard). In the meantime, when Ian has the time, GET RECORDING

My Paris ticket was 90 Euros, plus about 200 for the eurotunnel train and a hotel, but worth evey penny, Robbie was just sensational. True that the hall was only about 3/4 full but the boys gave it all that they could. Ian's voice seemed a little horse but he still delivered.
I ot to go to the cemetary which was so emotional........ That will stay with me for ever!

i'm from Belgium and my first idea was to see Riders On the Storm playing at the Olympia...
but when i saw the price (77€ for the cheapest seats - 110€ for the most expensive seats),
i decided to go to the Amsterdam gig which was 36€
i think this is a too big difference in price for the same gig rolleyes.gif
Scardanelli
Ray and the others at the Olympia ...
In the 1967 Electra biography Ray stated, that his favorite individual singer was Jacques Brel. Another exceptional singer, one who gave 100% and more in chanson.
Grand Jaques gave his Adieus at the Olympia 40 years ago back in 1966, same year when the doors started.
If Ray knew this when he hit the Olympia-stage with the others?

BTW I also noticed, that the price during the Riders' European tour differed immensely. I paid 49 Euros for my Dortmund-ticket. No idea at all why this was so.

Forever is a wonderfully gorgeous and beautiful piano piece

I know someone who went to the Paris gig and there were about 400 people there, I went to Amsterdam and there were about 4,000, it was great! I wonder if Ray will go to Pere Lachaise this July? wink.gif

Whats the capacity at the Olympia? I heard it was 3/4 full so 400 people would put that at a very small venue

Well Forever is officially in my book, a great song. Been sitting here trying to take down some of the lyrics with mild luck. Heres a bit of what I got so far:

Girl, the vallies and the skies
Men, they all realize,
that nothing
lasts forever

Nothing lasts forever
little hearts rise together

Cut down the mountains
and hold up the sky
burn down the vallies for you

Note-these three stanzas are not subsequent in the song

You're right Jimbo. It is a great song. Here is what I think the first stanza is:

Burn.. the valleys and the skies.
When.. will they all realize..
That nothing.. lasts forever.
For hearts.. that rise together.
And all above.. forever.
Forever.

ahh thanks Dave, I got pretty close I guess then. Think I'll just pat myself on the back laugh.gif

I don't know where the figure of 400 at Olympia Paris coes from but i was in the crowd and i would guess that 2,000 would have been nearer the mark.
The Music was excellent, Robbie was on Fire.

Jimbo - did you get all the words??? This song is amazing!!
Jimbo
Burn, the vallies and the skies
when, will they all realize
that nothing lasts forever
if all the hearts rise together
and all above, forever
forever

yeah lies now and angels cry
there is wisdom in your eyes
and nothing lasts forever
little hearts rise together
they will run
run forever

down the sky
and I'll burn down the vallies for you
cut down the mountains
and I'll hold up the sky
and I'll burn down the vallies for you

Nothing lasts forever
little hearts rise together
they will run
away forever
they will run forever

And they'll run forever
little hearts rise together
they will run away forever
forever

Some of these lines are guesses but even if I'm wrong I think I'm pretty close. A BEAUTIFUL song and some of Robby's best work in awhile. I love it

Thanks Jimbo - I really love this song! I've been reading your comments for quite some time about them recording some new material. After hearing this, I am in total agreement.

Thanks again!

Well, I'm finally getting out to Paris in November. Can't wait to make the pilgrimage to Jim's grave. When is the best time to go? Is it always quite busy?

i've never been, myself...but i would venture that the best time to go would be right before the drugs hit their peak...

The cemetary is open 09.00 - 17.00 and is fairly large.
If you enter by the metro entrance, turn immediately right when you get in and head for section 6, it's basically North east of where you enter bt about 800 metres in a straight line, I spent ages looking for it, but i added to the experience.
Good luck!
