Here is a description of the project in Rays own words:

My collaboration with Bal - he goes by a single name - has resulted in a mix of music that is all within the area called "Electronica." This CD is jazz based with computer additives. We have tried to explore many avenues of music through the use of synths and sampled sounds, live playing and acoustic instruments. What we were going for was a bled of our jazz/rock/ethnic roots that we then stuffed into the computer. And it came back out with "Atonal Head." We have Brazilian compositions, Japanese inspired compositions, rock riffs, ballads, and a guest vocal by Jim Morrison. Bal did the computer work and played the trumpet and guitar. I did all the keyboard parts. Some of the compositions are based on ideas that he had, some are based on the ideas that I had, and some came free and clear out of the blue. It's basically an instrumental album with a touch of vocals. I hope you find it interesting! - Ray Manzarek

So what do you think about this new version of Riders featuring Jim's 'Bird of Prey' vocal? I like the funky organ:

I am looking VERY forward to this album coming out...

But tell me, appart from the two ''Nite City'' albums, and Ray's own albums, are there any albums on which Ray plays and/or sings, that do NOT involve another lead singer/speaker ?

I love Ray's music, but, I'm only in as far as him singing, or playing on an instrumental track, and NOT if there's someone else doing the vocal (unless it's Jim or Robbie, of course !).

So you don't like Ray's playing if someone else is singing? I'm just into his (and Robby's) playing. I could care less who's with them.

... where did I say that I didn't ''like'' Ray's playing, if someone else is doing the vocal ?

I just meant that the no-vocal or Ray vocal albums are the ones I most like and seek to buy.

If I ever win the lottery, THEN I'll hunt down and buy every single album on which Ray played a note. LOL

You can't access Ray's site? The old URL (www.RayManzarek.com) is being fixed. In the meantime, try one of these:

www.RayManzarek.us
www.RayManzarek.net
www.RayManzarek.org
RayManzarek.TheDoors.com

The old URL has been having problems for a few months, so we got the site up and running with the above URLs while we address the issue.
