I live in the Phoenix area and was out of town backpacking for like 3 days and this is the news I discover when I get back?! What an amazing opportunity. But I'm getting greedy....

Given that rehearsals must take place for some time with performance like this, do you think it's hopeless to pursue the possibility of witnessing such events? Who could I contact about this/how would i go about getting info for such things?

Well as far as rehearsals, if you're already in the area than maybe you should inquire with the Symphony directly, as I'd assume they'd need more time to familarize themselves with the music of The Doors and Robby and Ray wink.gif

It wouldn't hurt to ask around and please get back to us with any reports, and don't forget a concert review after the show!

When the Music's Over^
Five to One*
Alabama Song
Wild Child

In between likely and not likely

Hello I Love You
Tell All The People^

Would be awesome, alas, won't happen
The End^

Realistic super wish list
The Soft Parade^
Soul Kitchen

* Not sure how these rockers would work with symphony
^ Symphony seems way exciting to me for these ones

I saw the Phoenix Symphony play with 'The Music of Led Zeppelin' in January and it was fabulous. With the exception of the Soft Parade, Zep's catalogue seems more fitting for orchestration than the Doors. Still, the rockers like 'Good Times, Bad Times' 'Whole Lotta Love' 'The Ocean' seemed to work well. The only song that didn't (IMHO) was the intro to 'Moby Dick'. Just as I was curious to see how Zep's riff-rock cuts would work, I'm curious to see how the blues-rock tunes like 'Roadhouse' etc will be orchestrated (if at all; maybe they will stick with ballads, psychedelic, organ songs).

Does anyone have any thoughts on symphonies impact on the Doors-ynish of the show? I don't mean the song and sound necessarily, but the Manzarek commentary, 'Dead Cats' stuff, 'Five to One', interlude, 'Sex Machine' intro, call and response on 'Roadhouse' etc.? I hope it's not too constrained.

just thought of something else...what about the symphony playing Carmina Burana live? how neat would that be...

I'd say the chances are unlikely but it would be fantastic, yes

Here's a link to the event I created. Let's go support The Doors (or The Doors of the 21st Century/D21C/Riders on the Storm/Manzarek-Krieger Band...whatever you are comfortable with).
