When Ray and Robby perform at the Napa Valley Opera House on March 21st, the show will be with the Riders On The Storm band members. Tickets are on sale now on-line, but you can get better seats by calling the box office directly. The venue website is: http://www.nvoh.org/ I wonder if this is considered a rots show?

I wonder too.
Maybe they're gonna start advertising with more focus on 'of The Doors', and less on 'Riders on the Storm'?
Seems like it might be a good idea, actually..

Going by Ray's recent radio interview it seems that the band members will stay the same but will tour under Manzarek/Krieger

Thanks for the info, Jimbo.
What interview is that?

edit, oh.., just saw this on idafan.com:

QUOTE
Ray Manzarek did a 15-minute phone interview with a reporter from the Salt Lake Tribune in advance of next week's 'When You're Strange' premiere at Sundance in Park City. During the interview, Ray reveals that following Sundance the band will tour Mexico, then do about six U.S. west coast dates from Seattle to San Diego, then down to South America, and finally into the recording studio to record some new music with various singers. Ray also said they will be the Manzarek-Krieger Band, with the same musicians as Riders On The Storm. Listen to it at: http://blogs.sltrib.com/sundance/2009/01/h...alk-to-you.html

Hopefully that new music is the stuff we got hints of in the past. I told Tom V Eagle in the Whirlpool kicks all kind of ass so here's hoping. I want Brett to do his fair share of the recording as well

Ray says something like .." we're going on the road .. with the Ray Manzarek Robby Krieger Band .. we used to be Riders On The Storm..before that we were The Doors of the 21st Century.. but the judge said no-"

Cool

I think changing the band name is a great idea.

Looking forward to hearing the new studio stuff with Astbury, Scallions, Manzarek, McClure vocals plus others

(& hopefully exceedingly cool percussion)

Yer they shouldn't have used that name in the first place in my opinion as there was already a tribute act doing the rounds using that name.

Kreiger & Manzarek says it all for me ,Bring it on as i canny wait.

On youtube someone made a video of Eagle in the Whirlpool performed live from Berlin a few years back set to a video collage of the band. Now the audio (not the pictures) have been stripped, siting property of WMG (Warner Music Group). Could this mean we'll see some sort of official release of the song soon? Here's hoping

THE FILLMORE WEST (3/22/09)
Seating Capacity-999 (posted)
1500-2000!!!!!!!

"...We filed slowly
languidly into the auditorium..."

...then The Fillmore ERUPTED

The Guys were on FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never missing a beat, they played with
such intense energy!!!
They brought to the gig 150%+ with the crowd
reciprocating the same back to the band.
For a moment in time, we were engulfed in music
& love where nothing else mattered.
We rocked out from 8:15 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
Highlights from the show:
Brother Owen did indeed play percussion on Soft Parade,
a black bra was flung upon the stage which Brett bestowed
upon Robbie's guitar neck, then later becoming a part of his person (Robbie).
There was a special guest bassist (sorry didn't catch name)
who jammed w/the guys on Road House Blues
Brothers YOU ROCK SOLID!!!
PHENOMENAL SHOW-The Best in the West!!!
*Screaming Eagle is still hoarse from singing a line on
"Five to One", after Brett handed him the mic.
He sat in with Buddy Guy when he was 10 years old & he is
now 27!!! You Guys made his night-
WE LOVE YOU

THX Brother Owen for the set list:
Love Me 2x
Break on Through
When the Music's Over
Waiting for the Sun
Alabama Song
Backdoor Man
