Forgive if this is old news, but I'm sure many of you who've seen the new tour have noticed that Ray has set aside the Alesis for the ol' Vox.
Has he been playing it again for awhile, or is this new?

He was playing the Vox in Rochester. He also had it on the "Classic Albums" DVD, and is using it on a recent series of videos from Lexus' "L Studio":
http://lstudio.lexus.com/#vid380I thought maybe dusting it off for "Classic Albums" had inspired him to use it again.
Anyone seen him using it at any other shows?

Here's a bunch of videos from the Rochester show with Ray playing the Vox -- don't know if it's
the Vox, but it's a Vox!

Hey guys. Ray is still playing the Alesis. He has had a faux Vox shell and has the Alesis set inside it. This is not a real Vox continental. Just an FYI.

Oh and to clarify on the Classics Albums and Lexus videos...real Vox, on the tours...Alesis in Vox Shell. IT would be cool to see the old gear on tour, but I don't think Ray would like to use more than one keyboard. A dead giveway is not having to change from classic sound to electric piano sound to haprsichord sound. A close up of pics shows the Alesis tucked nicely inside the lookaike Vox clothing.

Question - Why is he acctually the Alesis in the shell?

He's doing it merely for stage presence. He know's people are nostalgic over the whole vox continental and Fender Rhodes bass thing. People are always asking him to use the old gear. Even Robby says he's asked him. Ray has no intetest in doing it as they are fragile and he'd have to switch to different keybaords if he wants piano sounds, but he is trying to at least give the illusion because the fans have wanted it so bad.

Riders tour manager Marco Moir owns both a Vox and Gibson organ- these are used for videos and Dvds like Classic Albums.

It would be great to see him in front of the Gibson for the next documentary. I love love love the Vox, but it is fun to see him in front of the Gibson like the old days of the Doors live gigs.
