wow, I think that was my 10th show and this is the ONLY event that I think could've got me to Chicago last nite, what a show.
Closest I ever stood to Ray for most of the show. Near the girl that yelled 'I love you Ray' which was one of several funny moments, (when Brett thought she said his name at first). It seemed like Ray was pointing at the top of my head during the 'political' part of the show. That part really goes to Break On Through, so Im really starting to like it since it's artistic. I wondered if Ray thinks that anyone else (think outside of this country) should get high too?
How about Ray's friends from grammar school on stage? Looks like they were having fun, an existential moment in time, very cool.
(IMO that's the thing about this band. It's about the LIVE experience. I remember thinking I can't really (it's all good) understand Doors fans that wouldn't want to see Manzarek & Krieger jam Doors songs live under any name.. especially on a Saturday night.
I was bummed I didn't see an incense stick jammed in the chrome Z legs of Ray's keyboard (like back in the day as mentioned in his book)!
The thought crossed my mind as they even sold it there..guess I coulda bought Ray a box, didn't think of it until now.
Took a picture for someone with their camera so I know there was at least one camera not counting phones! Lotta people dancing, jamming and partying and having a great time, Gloria and The Soft Parade was excellent to experience live, loud and clear.
Excellent beer service. I like when someone hands me a cold beer right as Carmina Burana from a nearby powerful stack of 7 elevated speakers plus more on the floor starts.
At the end I was really checking out the in-house TV coverage of the show. Camera mix cool. I KNOW
someone must've pressed record.
