“The End” The Death Of Jim Morrison

It’s now 9:25am. It was at this time that the police arrived, accompanied by a curious neighbor, Monsieur Chastagnol, who lived on the floor below. Chastagnol walked in and saw what was taking place. His memory is of seeing a body on the floor next to the bed. The body was dressed in normal house clothes and did not appear to be wet. Chastagnol says he was told that Mr. Morrison just died, possibly from a drugs overdose. Not wishing to intrude further, he returned to his own flat.

This information had not been mentioned in any of the official statements that I had acquired. Chastagnol statement contradicted the police version of the incident.

Monsieur Chastagnol’s written reply of April 3 1990:
“The police did not ask me to go upstairs with them. I just happened to be going upstairs at the same time as them. I followed them up and went into the flat behind them without saying anything. There must have been three of them. I only stayed about two minutes. The body was spread out full length on the floor, at the foot of the bed, was not wet and was wearing house clothes – not that I paid much attention to that particular fact – it was all very quick.
What time could it have been? Probably about 9 or 9:30 in the morning. It does not mean that he did not die in his bath. I don not know about this; but if that was the case, it would mean that the body would have been dried and dressed before the arrival of the police.”
