new i interview with ian at http://ca.music.yahoo.com/read/news/29118040 has this interesting quote:

Q: You described one of the high points of performing with Riders on the Storm. Were there any low points?

A: "The political battle between John (Densmore) and Ray (Manzarek) and Robbie (Krieger) was really sad and unfortunate, that sort of split in the fraternal set. Some of the media reaction ... like Jon Pareles from the New York Times saw me on the eighth show and he wrote this review basically saying Dionysus was not present. That one really made me go, 'Wait a minute. I'm going to take a step back here and really assess what it is I'm doing."'

interesting little introspective into ian's thoughts on the whole debacle... apparently he was affected by the constant (lame and uninformed) criticism...

Well most of the criticism was way over board and Ian done a great job and he is sadly missed but glad we have Brett nowas he has brought fresh energy into the band.

I miss Ian...
It's my humble opinion that he was the best choice to tour with the band. I don't mean to sound offensive but when I saw them earlier this year I really didn't feel any Doors Mojo energy pouring out like I had when I saw them twice before as D21C.

As Ian wrote to me "Jim Lives - Peace Ian"
Moorish Idol
Ian, to me, seemed to have a sort of kick-ass-and-take-no-prisoners attitude in his perfomance w/ D21C. That just added fuel to the energy that flowed from the stage.

When I saw Brett, he threw himself into the songs like he's always been doing it. I don't think Brett detracts anything from "Ray and the Sex Machines".

It's a different style of energy but the band can still blow away anyone who dares to give them second billing.

Rock on Riders!

Well, I will most likely continue to pay to see Ray and Robby perform whenever I get the chance as they play so well together... now seeing John join them would be even better. Also, I have much respect for Ty and his talents with the band... he's just an awesome drummer!
