Radio advertisments were made featuring Brett singing Doors songs.

Doors Management stopped Riders from using them in any way.

Hi AK.

It's a complete fucking disgrace how in allegedly civilised countries like yours and mine that these assholes can stop the creators of The Doors music using their music to advertise, well...their music!!! blink.gif

I love Riders On The Storm. Sadly, I stopped loving 'The Doors' a long time ago. The joyous spirit that was in The Doors was passed on to ROTS in much the same way I imagine the shaman's spirit was passed on to Jim Morrison in the first place.

When did The Doors become about 'brand preservation and promotion'????? Sad sad days. Morrison and Sugerman must be spinnin' in their graves.

Fuck it. The show goes on man.

PSSSSST I think word of mouth .... really does spread the word...

I haven't heard any adverts, but I knew once they had started touring again, we just ALL had to be there.

Come on guys.. where is your Doors spirit, the spirit that unites us all, the spirit that wants to hear Light My Fire, WTMO, Love me two times...

We are a huemongous international family.. we all so rock.. and yes I do agree, my Doors spirit died along long time ago, experience and life beat me and brought me back to all that I knew.

Come on guys.. kick so frigging arse.

B Scallions.. remember that name.

well I love The Doors, but if I'm understanding people right then we share the same opinion. It's cool getting new BMA releases and books from The Doors and even the documentary should be pretty cool but Riders on the Storm is a touring band, one we can all go see, one that potentially will create new music. Naturally my enthusiasm for the moment is in the group that's still alive and kickin

i love the doors but i just want to know why there is a lack of advertising this time around last year the riders had ads in 3 or 4 irish news papers and had ads on billboards around dublin but this year there is nothing.

Same happend when they played wembley back in December 03.

There was adverts in all the mags and a few papers but then when they came back 6 months later i didnt no they were playin manchester until the month of the gig due ta the lack of advertizing.

if they gotta few more adverts out then i think they would be selling out these venu's no problem.

There was lack of advertising in the U.S. as well. I only stumbled upon the tour dates when I went in search for what they were doing... it was by mere chance that they happened to be coming to my city two weeks prior to me knowing about it. As for advertisements I think they are scarce. I say it must have to do with management but that's just a guess.

i remember for the 05 Trump Taj MAhal, there was radio, billboards, and things all over. The only reason I knew ROTS was touring this year was that one of my friends dads heard something about it luckily a week before the shew

Don't get me wrong - I love The Doors, as in I love Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John Densmore as wonderful musicians, and I cannot, I still cannot describe in words how amazing I believe their music is, and how it actually somehow seems to be getting better after 42 years...of which I've only been alive for 27.

My point is that the magical something, the mystical, the precious, hell, the divine within The Doors has been sucked out by this commercialism that lies within Doors Inc. (as universalmind1123 so succinctly put it, as usual!). For so long, I was happy to distinguish between the two, but sadly, as Jimbo intonates, The Doors, in that predicament of being frozen in time, and apparently lawsuits, can no longer be fresh, be new, be original. That potential was there once, but it got sued and re-branded as something else, and with that almost comes the end of one era - 'The Doors, all for one, one for all' and another era has begun, an almost bloodier era, that of the Riders On The Storm, to some, the four horse-riders of the Apocolypse, but to those of us who know them a little better, our friends, Ray, Robby, Ian, Brett, Ty, Phil (Angelo and Stewart too lest I forget!).

There is an incredible commercialism that allows the release of old material as new from BMA and Rhino and all these strange new media streams that didn't exist last week half the time, but in the same breath, there is a Riders tour going on that seemingly cannot even get a tour poster slapped up on a pub wall. The paradox of the band'(s) position is very strange to say the least. I wish these musicians could once again be re-united under the flag of The Doors. It would make life simpler, and truer. But then we cannot always get what we want can we?

So I guess that maybe what I'm saying is that I've fallen out of love with The Doors, but I still love them, if you know what I mean.

My word - I almost sound French here... laugh.gif

being sponsored by VH1 didn't hurt any wink.gif I agree the, hopefully something can be done and the advertisements pick up quickly, word of mouth is great but it only goes so far
